But first, coffee!
No coffee, no talkie!
Give me coffee and no one gets hurt!
Everyone has heard these sayings, but do you live by them? I for one do! And, because I do, I know what I like, and what I don’t, when it comes to coffee. Let me tell you, there is a new gourmet coffee on the block that is going to steal the hearts of all southern girls that consider themselves coffee connoisseurs.
MEET SOUTHERN BELLE COFFEE
You guys, seriously!!!! From the moment I laid eyes on this coffee brand, I knew I had to try it. I mean, the name alone suggests I should, right? Well, I’m glad I did, because it is so good.
Did I mention that I love coffee? Well, I do! But not just any coffee – I like my coffee boujee! Now, when I make it at home, it is not, admittedly, anything that you would swoon over. I don’t know how (and don’t have the time to learn) how to make cute little shapes in froth. In fact, I don’t even froth (and I have that option on my coffee maker). But that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy a flavorful cup each morning.
I’m not a basic coffee drinker. I can do a plain light to medium roast without much more if I have no other option, but typically, I buy flavored coffee or add a flavored creamer to my cup. So, when I found this flavored coffee with all the Southern flare that I’d like to think that I possess, I had to give it a try! And, Y’ALL, it is slap yo momma good!
Let me tell you a couple of things that immediately drew me to this coffee (and there were others). . . .
Admittedly, the first thing that drew me to Southern Belle Coffee was it’s packaging and branding. Let’s face it, this is the best packaging that I have ever seen for a coffee (or any other product)! This is, hands down, some of the most creative branding I’ve run across. It almost makes you wish you’d come up with it 😉 And, for a coffee that prides itself on being born from the strength, grit and humor associated with Southerner women, not only is the packaging on point, but the names of the flavors stole my heart. 💖 I find them to be nothing short of genius. I won’t spoil the surprise for you, you’ll have to visit the Southern Belle website to check them all out, but I will tell you about the two flavors I have tried.
I first tried “Belle of the Ball,” an amazing blend full of caramel, pecan, and rum flavors. Now, we all know that of the many things Southern gals do best, attending balls and baking pecan pies sits at the top of that list. Pecan pie is my absolute favorite and I love a good reason to get dressed up, so this flavor immediately stood out to me – and with good reason. It is a beautiful marriage of the most Southern flavors you’ll find.
The other flavor I tried is Jamaican Momma Crazy. It’s a blend of Kahlua, caramel and vanilla flavors that will make your mouth smile involuntarily! I must admit, all I could do was giggle at the name of this one ~ because who of us hasn’t told our kids just how crazy they’re making us? And on those days, who doesn’t want to add a little Kahlua to their coffee, indulge in a piece of caramel, or bribe the kids to “act right” with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? But, you know we Southerners aren’t afraid of a little crazy (heck, that’s what makes us so endearing), nor should you be afraid to try this delicious flavor. It won’t disappoint!
The other thing that immediately drew me to Southern Belle Coffee was it’s Creator! This coffee isn’t mass produced in a warehouse and pushed out by a bunch of automated machines, it’s made to order by its creators, Kimberly and her husband. A sassy Southern Belle herself, Kimberly, is a busy mom with a lot on her plate but, like the rest of us, she voluntarily added another ~ and I for one am glad she did! As I read her blog posts and perused her Instagram feed, I got a feeling of familiarity. In fact, many times I felt like she had written exactly what I was thinking. Her delivery is spunky, southern and clever – exactly what I like in a friend! In other words, she is someone you want to share a cup of coffee with, and not just because she can roast her own.
Kimberly and her husband have owned a coffee roasting business for quite a few years; however, their newest endeavor, Southern Belle, is Kimberly’s baby. Kimberly wanted to create a coffee that would help women start their day with energy and humor, and I think she’s nailed it. But, in addition to the energy and humor this coffee brings, I find that it also brings me a bit of nostalgia with each cup. As I drink from my cup, which is typically around 5am when I have a quiet house to myself, I find myself remembering things from the past about my grandmothers, who were two of the most different, yet equally Southern women I’ve ever met. One was perfectly poised, always polite, and never raised her voice, while the other was boisterous, bossy and always said what was on her mind. (I like to think I possess a little of both ladies – maybe more of one than the other – but I’ll let you figure out which one 😉). That said, as different as my grandmothers were, they both loved their coffee and had at least one cup each morning. Maybe this is where my love of coffee began.
I admit, I am very persnickety about how I conduct my mornings. As mentioned I like to rise early and get my thoughts together before the rat race begins. Because this quiet time has become as much a necessity as a pleasure, I am super picky about the coffee with which I share it. I don’t want to drink a cup for the sake of waking up. I want to enjoy my cup while I’m getting my mind right. And Southern Belle Coffee fits the bill. All that said, as much as I love the caffeine kick and its delicious, humorous delivery, what keeps me reaching for these bags each morning, are the feelings the coffee stirs in me like the creamer I stir into it. So, thank you Kimberly and Southern Belle Coffee for making my morning cup, what I would consider, the most delightful part of my day.
If you would like to grab a bag of this precious and delicious coffee, you can order here. And, when you do, be sure to let me know!
XOXO – Bridget
