If you’re reading this, you’ve found me and I couldn’t be more excited!
I’m Bridget – a forty-something (but who’s counting), Southern girl with a love for all things fabulous and fashionable (some frivolous, some frugal). I’m the creator of The Savvy Southerner, a lifestyle blog, where I’ll share my thoughts about everything amazing that has caught my eye or captured my heart – and maybe a few that haven’t.
For those of you who don’t already know me, here’s the skinny, sap-free, no frills version of who I am. If you need “feels” to get to know me better, well…, I apologize in advance – there isn’t enough space here to cover 40+ years folks. 😉 That said, just hang out for a bit – you’ll get the picture.
I was born and raised in a small town in south Mississippi, moved to central Mississippi to attend law school (what felt like 3 but was actually 20 years ago), and never left.
I’m a wife to my husband, Brent; a soccer mom to my daughter, Avery; a dog mom to our sheepadoodle, Paisley; and, we are all part of a beautiful blended-family that I love. I’m a Christian, a full-time lawyer, and now, apparently, a blogger … Who knew?!
I’m a Botox-loving, hair-coloring, fighting-my-forties, introverted extrovert. I got married, then divorced, then married again (hence, the blended family). Pink is my favorite color; my daughter is my favorite person; and, exercise is something I think about more than I actually do (but when it does happen, it happens in Lululemon).
I’m a type-A, organized, list making, neat freak. I love encouraging others, even though it may be with a side of sass. I’m a self-depreciating, no nonsense, tongue-in-cheek kind of girl, that is as sweet as I am snarky. I say as much with my face as I do with my words, (even with Botox involved). And, although my eyes have been known to roll uncontrollably, at the end of the day, I live to make others laugh or smile!

I have big dreams and a small budget. I strive to be debt-free, but REALLY enjoy shopping. I love mixing bargains with budget-blowers (Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin hang out with Sam Edleman and Steve Madden in my closet). I try to spend wisely, and am mostly successful – If a good deal exists, I’ll find it; however, I have no problem spending more on investment pieces.
I love sushi, Hallmark movies, and rainy days spent on my couch – Bonus points if these happen concurrently! When it comes to traveling, I prefer big cities and the mountains to the beach (mostly because of the whole swim suit situation). I love the idea of being healthy, but I also love movie theater popcorn and gummy bears. What’s a girl to do?
Lastly, because I’m quasi-creative and love trying new things, of course I thought it would be fun to start this blog – You know, to share my take on all things “life” with anyone willing to listen. 😉 So, if you’d like to pass a few moments with someone who takes life seriously, without taking herself too seriously, then you’re in the right place!
I hope you’ll stick around long enough to see what I’m craving, creating or coveting next.
XOXO – Bridget
